Thirteen Chapters Launched for Independent Authors

Pittsburgh, PA (PRWEB) December 13, 2010

Dramatic changes in the publishing industry including advances in technology have created unlimited opportunities for authors to take control of their writing careers. Authors are no longer stuck on the time-consuming and often demoralizing path to a publishing house.

A role of the Association of Independent Authors is to establish and maintain standards for its members with regard to both writing, and a code of conduct for when dealing with others in the industry. In the same way individual publishing houses offer an implied guarantee of editorial quality for the titles they publish, the Association of Independent Authors assumes a similar role for its members who are career-focused professionals engaged in the art of writing.

The formation of thirteen chapters across the globe offers an opportunity for members in those locations to meet face-to-face, and to develop initiatives suited to their local community, for example monthly events with guest speakers, trade fairs, library programs, community charity events, book launches, tours and signings, coffee shop promotions, and hosting local literary events.

Authors who have self-published, those who plan to do so in the future, and authors who have previously published with a publishing house but who plan to self-publish in the future, are invited to join the AiA this month with a first-year complimentary membership using the Promo Code: CHAPTERS

Recent releases by our members include:

Two Free Marketing Services for Self-Publishing Authors Offered by Outskirts Press in November

Denver, CO (PRWEB) November 01, 2011

Outskirts Press, the fastest-growing full-service self-publishing and book marketing company, announced today it is giving away the Amazon Search Inside and Barnes & Noble See Inside submission services with the purchase of a publishing package this month (a $ 200 value). Authors who purchase the Diamond, Ruby or Pearl book publishing packages in November will be rewarded with two of the most popular marketing options available through Outskirts Press: Amazon Search Inside and Barnes & Noble See Inside.

Self-publishing authors voted in a Web 2.0 poll on the publisher?s blog where feedback was solicited on three choices for the November 2011 promotion: an instant 10% savings on publishing services, $ 300 of ?Mad Money? to spend on any pre-production option the author desires or free Amazon Search Inside and Barnes & Noble See Inside submissions after publication.

The first choice, Mad Money, was offered as the publishing package promotion during the month of October. Now Outskirts Press listens to voters again this month by offering their second choice. With the Search Inside and See Inside features, authors can dramatically increase their chances to sell their books. Amazon has found that books that participate in this program are significantly more successful, on average, than books that do not participate. Being able to browse through sections of the book increases the confidence the customer has in the product and makes it far more likely they?ll purchase a copy of the book, whether they are browsing on Amazon or Barnes and Noble websites.

For more information or to take advantage of this promotion, visit http://www.outskirtspress.com/promotion.html. You must purchase a Diamond, Ruby or Pearl book publishing package in the month of November. At check out, simply enter the promo code LookInside11-2011. The marketing options will be added to your purchase at no cost.
